Nike SB Dunk Low "Som Tum" Releases Summer 2026
Nike SB has unveiled official imagery of its Thai food-inspired Dunk Low "Som Tum," arriving summer 2026. The sneaker layers cultural references throughout its construction, from woven textile overlays to hidden floral motifs, demonstrating the sub-brand's sustained ability to build thematic narratives without reliance on external partners.

Nike SB has long operated with a self-directed creative mandate, mining everything from architectural vernacular to culinary traditions as design fuel. The upcoming Dunk Low "Som Tum" exemplifies this approach—a sneaker constructed entirely around Thai gastronomic culture and its material heritage.
The design draws its formal language from the kratip, a hand-woven bamboo vessel traditionally used for rice storage and service. Textured overlays across the upper interpret this basketry aesthetic, while the inner left tongue features the kratip itself in graphic form. The right tongue shifts focus to the namesake som tum (green papaya salad), anchoring the shoe's thematic core.

Design Details
Nike SB extended its research beyond the plate. Insole graphics reference the typography and patterning found on jasmine rice packaging—a deliberate nod to the ingredient that grounds Thai cuisine. A lotus flower rests beneath the insoles on the Zoom Air unit, a detail visible only to the wearer, reinforcing the sub-brand's commitment to layered storytelling.
Red stitching threads throughout, adding textural warmth and cultural resonance. A silver collar provides additional thematic callbacks, ensuring no visual element operates without purpose.
