Nike Returns to Miami Hurricanes in $200M Deal
Nike has won back the University of Miami apparel partnership, inking a reported $200 million deal over 10 years that begins in July 2027. The agreement represents the Swoosh's return to the Hurricanes after a 12-year absence, reclaiming one of college football's most storied uniform histories.

The apparel landscape in collegiate athletics continues to shift as major brands compete for high-profile partnerships. Nike has secured a significant victory in this space, reclaiming the University of Miami after adidas held the contract since 2015.
According to reporting from the Miami Herald, the new Nike deal will commence upon the expiration of Miami's current adidas agreement on June 30, 2027, with the Swoosh officially taking over in July 2027. The partnership carries a valuation exceeding $200 million across its 10-year term, translating to more than $20 million in annual value for the university.
The Financial Structure
The deal's composition mirrors modern apparel partnerships, with cash payments and product forming the total package. Approximately two-thirds of the annual value will arrive as direct cash—substantially higher than Miami's current adidas arrangement, which provides roughly $6.5 million annually in cash plus apparel. The remaining value comes through Nike-supplied equipment, jerseys, and related gear.

adidas, holding the partnership since 2015, was afforded the opportunity to match or exceed Nike's offer. The Three Stripes submitted a competing proposal but could not meet the financial terms the Swoosh presented, clearing the path for Miami's return to the Swoosh.
Historical Context: A 40-Year Relationship
Nike's tenure with Miami encompasses a defining era in Hurricanes football. The Swoosh outfitted the program from 1987 through 2015—a 28-year run that included numerous high-profile seasons and national prominence. That partnership ended when Miami pivoted to adidas under a 12-year agreement that expires in 2027.
The return marks a full cycle: Miami will go from Nike to adidas and back to Nike across roughly two decades of college football evolution. For the Swoosh, reclaiming the Hurricanes represents a major piece of its college portfolio, particularly in a market (South Florida) and sport (football) where brand presence carries outsized cultural weight.
