Vans x Undercover Reunites With Art-Driven Slip-Ons
Vans and Undercover deepen their partnership with a three-piece capsule pairing the Japanese label's curatorial eye with artist Emily Bennett's painterly work. The collection lands June 24 at $110 per pair.

The Vans and Undercover relationship has accelerated considerably over the past two years, moving from seasonal positioning to a more fluid cadence of shared product. This latest three-shoe effort underscores how the California sneaker house and Tokyo-based design collective have evolved their synergy—less novelty, more natural alignment.
Undercover's role remains curatorial. The label has commissioned work from painter Emily Bennett, selecting two distinct canvases from her archive: "Ardour" (2011) and "All Aflame" (circa 2020), both of which channel her signature visual language—inky grounds punctuated by flame motifs, botanical elements, and architectural fragments, often staircases rendered with careful abstraction. These pieces have been translated onto the Slip-On, the silhouette's clean toe box offering maximum real estate for Bennett's intricate compositions. Each shoe toggles between the two paintings across left and right, a deliberate approach that avoids redundancy.
The SK8-Hi iterations take a quieter approach. Two colorways—one predominantly white, one black—strip away illustrative detail in favor of a reductive grid pattern across the quarter panels. The motif nods obliquely to Vans' historical checkerboard lineage while maintaining contemporary restraint. Branding appears minimally but present, a subtle reminder of the collaboration's dual authorship.
A Rare SK8-Hi Moment
The SK8-Hi's presence here warrants attention. Once a foundational model in Vans' collaborative rotation, the silhouette has ceded considerable ground to the Old Skool in recent years, particularly for limited releases and special editions. This return signals a deliberate choice—a silhouette recovery of sorts, repositioning a classic through curatorial partnership.
