Kids Of Immigrants x Nike Total 90 Mule Releases May 19
Kids Of Immigrants returns for a second Nike footwear partnership, this time deconstructing the resurgent Total 90 silhouette through the lens of archival ACG design and personal cultural heritage. The result is a mule-construction reinterpretation that bridges football nostalgia with contemporary slip-on comfort, arriving May 19 in two colorways.

The momentum surrounding Nike's Total 90 revival shows no signs of slowing. Since the model's early 2025 return, the silhouette has transcended its original football context to become one of the brand's most compelling lifestyle propositions—a fact not lost on Kids Of Immigrants, whose second collaborative venture with Nike pivots squarely toward the soccer-inspired movement gaining traction globally.
What distinguishes this partnership from a traditional retro reissue is Kids Of Immigrants' willingness to dismantle and reconstruct. Rather than applying graphics to the classic Total 90 chassis, the design team drew inspiration from Nike's archival ACG line, introducing hiking-boot aesthetics into football heritage. The result reads as distinctly un-traditional: rugged terrain-inspired colorways, aggressive outsole lugging reminiscent of trail silhouettes, removable tongue flaps, and a mule heel construction that rewrites the model's DNA entirely. The slip-on format itself carries deliberate cultural weight. Within Latino communities, the chancla—or casual house shoe worn outdoors without ceremony—represents everyday practicality and household familiarity. Cork insoles accommodate sock-free wear, a nod to that same utilitarian ethos.

Design Director Daniel Buezo confirmed the Total 90 Mule was already in development before the Air Max Sunder collaboration dropped late last year, positioning Kids Of Immigrants ahead of the streetwear curve as Nike's football-to-lifestyle crossover accelerates. The early-2000s Nike Air Total 90 III Moc serves as a historical reference point, yet the contemporary execution feels neither nostalgic nor derivative.

Cultural Narrative and Apparel
The collection's deeper significance emerges through its ancillary components. A five-piece apparel line accompanies the footwear, anchored by an oversized goalkeeper jersey bearing KOI branding, a triple-Swoosh football scarf, and coordinating socks. The emotional core, however, lies in the packaging details: a custom Global Entry identification card and passport booklet sit alongside the shoes, serving as symbolic artifacts that honor immigrant sacrifice and the generational access those hardships enabled.

Two colorways launch simultaneously. The khaki edition releases exclusively through the Kids Of Immigrants website via raffle, while a black version drops wider through Nike SNKRS and select retail partners.
